As a suburban area about 15 miles north of Chicago on the border of Lake Michigan, this planned community offers a welcoming warmth from the hustle and bustle of Chicago proper. The population doesn’t top 3,000 and the close-knit nature of this community offers a great atmosphere for family with the many amenities that come with being so close to The Windy City.
History buffs will love the Kenilworth Historical Society for its award-winning exhibits and fascinating artifacts that capture Kenilworth’s past. This is also a wonderful place to learn more about Kenilworth’s famed architect and city planner, George Maher. For those who are more of a fan of the great outdoors and enjoying the beauty of Lake Michigan, we highly recommend renting a kayak and spending a day on the Skokie Lagoons. They’re known for some of the best kayaking the greater Kenilworth area can offer. And a summer day in Kenilworth isn’t complete without a visit to Kenilworth Beach, which offers public beach access to Lake Michigan – it’s a wonderful place to enjoy the sunshine and maybe even take a bike ride.

I want to begin by stating that it is rare that I take the time to provide business reviews. The fact that I am doing so now speaks volumes to the satisfaction experienced with Rainey’s Decorating Center. My wife and I recently moved to a newly renovated home; the windows, however, had no treatments. We met with three window treatment providers and ultimately chose Rainey’s. From the outset, we were pleased with the professionalism, knowledge and courtesy exhibited by all Rainey employees. During the order placement phase, the window treatment options were numerous. Mark and Nate (Rainey) were both very patient (multiple visits), informative (know their product exceedingly well), and helpful as we rendered our product decisions. They provided the upsides and downsides of each option, providing their opinions only when requested; they certainly took the time to make certain that my wife and I were happy with the choices we made. With the COVID environment, the delivery turn-around time was not as rapid as usual, though the ultimate delivery was only one week later than standard time cycles. During this interim, Nate was extremely proactive in communicating with us, properly setting expectations. We never felt neglected or forgotten, the way many companies often make you feel after an order is placed. Last came the installation, itself. Mark and his associate (Jim) arrived promptly and were immediately ready to “get going.” As was the case with the order phase, Mark measured dimensions carefully and precisely to ensure a perfect fit. Upon completion of the work, Mark shared instructions on the operation and the maintenance of the window treatments.
When all is “said and done,” Mark, Nate and Jim are great people who deserve your business. Again, they are professional, courteous, and helpful perfectionists. They do what they say they will do and within the promised time frame. My wife and I could not be more please with our decision in selecting Rainey’s Decorating Center.

Great product and great service. My elderly mother needed new blinds for her kitchen. I requested a consultation and Nate got back to me quickly. I explained what my mom was looking for and her price range. He asked me to send pictures of her current kitchen. When we arrived at the showroom, he had preselected blinds to show her in her price range. He explained all of her options, demonstrated the product, and answered all of her questions. Our interaction was great, and my mother felt no pressure. Nate was responsive when it came to ordering. The blinds arrived quickly and installation was scheduled right away. My mother was very happy with the installer and the installation process. Best of all, she is happiest with her new blinds. Thanks to Nate at Rainey’s for a great experience.
